Sharing detail and improving the carbon footprint every day in morning meetings. Educating others on the need to control energy and improve on waste every day. Include Operatives, Trades, Managers, Sub-Contractors, and Executives with the ongoing importance of sustainability and energy control and saving in our supply chain.
The Problem
Sustainability within our organisation starts with sharing objectives and informing the team and customers where the waste appears. A good place to start is sharing the methods used by others to lessen wastage and carbon fuel usage, adopt new methods if it improves the environment and lessens waste and energy use. Control the material supply and energy usage and make resources last longer. Look to remove any negative impact on the environment in which we work.
The Solution
Removing paper processes with electronic ones where possible, reducing waste and travelling. We with all staff use electronic handheld devices for logging times and events. Asking for products from suppliers without packaging, were possible. Sharing transport and working from home, when possible, to reduce carbon fuel use.
Achievements
Providing weekly reminders in meetings about the different ways to save and reduce the carbon footprint from our work. Acknowledging and encouraging the efforts from our suppliers and trades when savings are achieved.
