 Sustainability in the Workplace

Hunters partner with the client to promote not only economic profit, but also social benefits. We advise clients on how to reduce their carbon footprint or wasteful practices. These exercises benefit the client’s employees, customers, and the wider community.

Carbon Reduction with PV -Solar Energy Panels

Solar energy is a low carbon, renewable source of energy.  Costs vary depending on the client needs and feasibility. From roof mounted installations to ground mount we will be there to facilitate and deliver.

Ground Source Heat Pumps

Ground source heat pumps (or GSHP) offer several advantages over traditional heating systems. They can help reduce carbon emissions, tend to require less maintenance, and are generally cheaper to run.   Because these pumps can provide cooling during the warmer months, they can also work as air conditioners in the summer.

The way ground source heat pump’s function is relatively simple: Heat-pumps harness the ground temperature and use it to deliver renewable hot water and heating for your home.

In selecting this technology, it’s essential to find a heat pump that precisely matches the heating demands and Hunters can help select the correct heat pump based on your needs.

Air Source Heat Pumps

An air source pump generates its own renewable heat and delivers heat at lower temperatures than gas and oil boilers.  However, it will need to be run for much longer periods, to heat to a comfortable temperature.  Good insulation is also essential, as otherwise the heat the pump is generating escapes more easily.

LED lighting

LED lighting is used not only for visibility and general lighting – it’s also used for architectural downlighting in an incredible range of settings and projects.

LED lights are energy efficient and inexpensive – LED lighting also contains no toxic chemicals. This makes it a much more environmentally friendly option than fluorescent lights, which contain hazardous substances such as mercury.

Since LED lights last for significantly longer than incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs, they produce less waste. They’re also easy to recycle, as LED lights contain no hazardous or toxic materials that can damage the environment.

LED lighting is also good for the local environment. LEDs produce an incredibly tiny amount of ultraviolet (UV) radiation, making them a dependable option for storage facilities and industrial buildings that contain UV-sensitive products and materials.

Cladding

Sustainability and ecology is one of the latest trends in the construction sector. Cladding helps by minimising the carbon dioxide emission levels leaving the building.

Depending on its thickness, cladding also offers insulation within the building against heat and noise. This extra skin also helps regulate the temperature during the winter months, leading to energy savings for the building occupants.

Cladding provides an aesthetic choice that can make a significant difference to the appearance of the finished structure. Cladding is available in numerous options in terms of colour, material, and texture.

Sustainability Case Studies

Hunters assisted a major supplier to the NHS by designing improved building cladding. The design reduced heat losses and therefore heating costs. In addition, the finished project greatly improved their corporate image.
All Case Studies

“Due to Covid19 the Contractor [Hunter] had reduced trades and a strained supply chain as products were delayed and local government offices sparsely attended. They made changes quickly, protecting the project inclusive of both staff and contractors. This worked well for everybody, protecting all involved.”
