IT & Security 10Gb Fibre ring and cat6A cabling infrastructure

Value:  £ 1.5M

Overview

Design and Build multiple solutions, for two Factories and a dedicated Research & Development Campus, on two sites. Installation of 10Gb fibre ring, sm OS2 8c to every edge switch location fed from multiple locations, with disaster recovery incorporating diverse links and dual power resilience (UPS and mains).

The Aim

Old legacy 4mb IT wiring systems and legacy equipment limiting data performance and business administration. The task is to update the IT equipment and infrastructure to improve Business, Production and Research Data at a Major Pharmaceutical Research and Production site on the Wirral.
Door access system was outdated and regularly failing. Hunters role was to additionally install a multi level high speed Security Door Access, Turnstile and CCTV system, that records and controls access to multiple areas. Each area is presented with differing commercial sensitivity and controlled access. The Hunter solution is to incorporate the latest IP equipment (NEDAP Door Access and CCTV cameras) ensuring high speed responsiveness. The equip and infrastructure accommodated local and remote access for control and change.

The Solution

For the IT solution by Hunter, Hunters designed and installed/commissioned 30 km of OS2 fibre 36c Cable. Cable construction was armoured cable, installed at high and low level pathways. Pathways included Corporate offices, Production Areas, Research Laboratories and Warehouses and campus external ducts and service ways.
For the security solution by Hunter, equipment included NEDAP Controllers and Security access software with Server and infrastructure included in the installation. The PoE switches and 36c OS2 fibre, LC presentation to multiple locations through out two sites. The sites where separated by a British Rail Property and Railway line, pathways and solutions were devised and implemented by Hunter.

The Outcome

Hunter have designed and constructed integrated systems with fibre LAN’s with local cat6A wiring on for Corporate Clients and multiple IP vendor equipment. The system design adopts high speed solutions (10Gb) to accommodate upgraded Cisco and HP network equipment, alongside third party IP Cameras and Door Access. The systems incorporate multiple core switches and Hunter devised and installed an infrastructure that provides both resilience and disaster recovery for the client It and Security System.
